An essential course to prepare parents and caregivers to know how to act with confidence and safety: From minor everyday accidents or injuries to true emergencies. 

 

Parents, grandparents or caregivers will learn to recognize and care for common and minor injuries, identify signs of alarm if there are complications of an illness and to act appropriately in case of emergencies, like choking or cardiorespiratory arrest in children.  Entirely lead by a Pediatrician Doctor or a Specialist Pediatric Nurse, according to the date you choose, your course coordinator will always be a highly experienced professional and fluent in english. 

 

The course at Centro do Bebé is both theoretical and practical.  Participants will have a hands-on training experience, in which they’ll practice the emergency and anti-choking maneuvers in our simulation models. 

In this course you will learn to: 

  • Prepare your home to prevent accidents. 
  • Navigate the portuguese emergency response system: what to say in your 112 call, how act while help in on the way. 
  • Know how to act in minor events such as fever bouts, when to call the pediatrician, criteria for going to the emergency room. 
  • Prepare your domestic first-aid kit.
  • How to act in case of common everyday situations such as caring for wounds, trauma and falls, bug bites.  
  • Recognize emergent situations such as choking, respiratory distress and others. 
  • How to act in case of choking of a baby/child, activate the pediatric choking algorithm and practise basic life support maneuvers.

  • Practical module of Pediatric Basic Life Support (ressuscitation) 
  • Going to ER Service or Calling 112 Emergency Line or Poison Helpline: what to do; who to call; what to say; what should you take with you
