Welcome to the Prenatal Course at Centro do Bebé!

The Prenatal Course at Centro do Bebé is a very comprehensive experience, a true journey that allows the mother—and the couple as well—to prepare for the many changes that come with the arrival of a new baby.

Here you’ll find:

  • The most experienced team of Obstetric Nurses;
  • Hands on training for newborn care with simulation dolls;
  • Group or one-to-one individual prenatal classes;
  • A unique experience for the couple with dynamics like belly mapping, and connecting with your baby in uterus;
  • Built from scratch facilities in the most complete perinatal care units, specially designed for working with pregnant couples and parents with small children, with all the conveniences of a premium environment.

How will our prenatal classes be?

  1. First you need to choose if you want to attend a group course (dates below) or an individual course, in a one-to-one experience with one of our nurses;
  2. After you book your course, you will be assigned one of our experienced Obstetric Nurses and she will be with you in all the classes, guiding you through what you need to know to deliver and take care of your newborn baby;
  3. Either in group or in individual classes, you will have 5 classes with your nurse (duration 2h00 each);
  4. In private, individual courses, you can book your sessions conveniently, considering your nurse availability;
  5. In group courses (available only at Centro do Bebé Lisboa), you get to choose from one of the dates listed below to book your course.

What can we expect from our nurse/midwife?

  • Our nurses are experienced professionals that also work or have worked in private and public maternities in Portugal, so they can easily guide you and answer your questions about birth and delivery in our country;
  • Our nurses often develop strong relationships with our pregnant couples and are available through email or cellphone (as agreed between you and your nurse) in case you have questions or need further support/ referrals.

 

Our Prenatal Course also includes:

  • A free visit to our Obstetric Nurse Walk In Service, which you can use in Pregnancy or Postpartum
  • A giftbag with samples and goodies from our partners

What will we learn?

  • Pregnancy and birth physiology; recognize and coping strategies for labor, reflecting on your individual choices and creating your birth plan;
  • Navigating the national health system, public and private, regarding perinatal care in Portugal;
  • What you need to buy: newborn essentials and maternity bag;
  • Connecting with your baby in uterus: belly mapping and fetal auscultation;
  • Prepare for Breastfeeding (or bottle feeding if that’s your plan);
  • Safe Sleep guidelines: what you need to know to create a safe sleep environment;
  • Baby Care: bath, dressing, hygiene, calming colic, how to settle a crying baby;
  • The 4th trimester: understanding your newborn and helping him/her transition to life outside the womb: regulation strategies;
  • First aid in choking and other emergency maneuvers;
  • Transition to parenthood: the couple’s journey from pregnancy to postpartum;
  • Create a Postpartum Plan: what you need to do to prevent exhaustion and conflict after the baby is born;
  • And so much more…
